Payments giant Visa (V) filed two trademark applications to the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) related to digital wallets, non-fungible tokens, and the metaverse. (link)

Google buys an AI avatar startup to take on TikTok

Google has quietly acquired a startup that was working on using AI to generate avatars for social media users and brands. According to TechCrunch, the company recently paid about $100 million to buy Alter. (link)

Kingdom Labs announces infrastructure collaboration with GGWP.ID

GGWP.ID, a leading Indonesian e-sports company that is well-known for its e-sports tournaments for Dota 2, Apex Legends, and League of Legends, starts its Web3 journey. According to the official statement shared by Kingdom Labs VC studio and GGWP.ID e-sports platform, the two teams have started a long-term strategic collaboration. (link)

Blockchain game Splinterlands reveals Gamefi platform Sold 10 million packs of Chaos Legion series cards

On Wednesday, the team behind the blockchain game Splinterlands announced that it reached a new milestone after the project sold more than 10 million packs from the fantasy-themed battle game’s Chaos Legion series of cards. The achievement follows the project’s recent partnership with the Major League Soccer Players Association and Warner Music Group. (link)

GameStop adds web3 gaming NFTs to the marketplace with Immutable X

GameStop, a retailer of video games, announced today that it has added support for NFTs stamped through the Ethereum layer-2 scaling network Unchanging X to its commercial center. This means that Web3 game resources can be exchanged on the platform. (link)

Dubai to open the world’s first metaverse nightclub

A new nightclub, VISION, will launch in Dubai built around the metaverse. Club-goers and crypto-owners will be able to “turn coins into cocktails,” while NFTs will also be available to purchase. (link)

Philips Norelco to create an interactive metaverse experience on Roblox

Philips Norelco recently launched "Shavetopia” – an interactive hub on Roblox that gives users the ability to choose from a variety of avatar facial hairstyles. This venture on Roblox, a global platform connecting over 50 million people daily through shared immersive experiences, helps extend the men's grooming brand and important social causes it supports to the metaverse. New crypto gaming project Calvaria has raised now raised almost $200,000 as it continues to race through the first stage of its presale. The unique card battle game has only just launched but is already generating a lot of buzz in the crypto world with investors flocking to get their hands on the native RIA token. (link)

NFT metaverse project trace bags $3.5 Mn in seed round

Play-To-Earn NFT Metaverse project, Trace raises over $3,000,000 in a closed round of seed investments; through private investments by HNI investors. Additionally, Trace also raised an additional 500K USD through NFT Sales on the platform. These investments shall be used to develop the Metaverse, work on marketing and acquisitions, as well as brand development. (link)

RealFevr raises €10 Million to build the ultimate web3 GameFi sports ecosystem

RealFevr, one of Portugal’s fastest-growing startups, announced that it has raised a €10 Million funding round. The round is led by global sports investor ADvantage, with participation from Semapa Next, Shilling Capital Partners, APEX Capital, and the professional football player Sérgio Oliveira. (link)
